Boots- The Greatest Little Guy

A little Boots (JC Bootleggin Posse) update since we last spoke after his gotcha day in September, when he recently completed his second show.

A setback

Unfortunately, shortly after we talked, he sustained a pasture injury from a fence that cut open his leg quite severely. He was taken to the University of Minnesota hospital where he thankfully didn’t need surgery, and there was no joint involvement. He was on stall rest with a big bandage for many month. It broke my heart that he was cooped up away from his friends for so long. He was such a trooper with the stall rest, bandage changes, short aisle walks, and rehab process!

And a recovery

In January, we were able to start rehab under saddle, and I’ve been bringing him back to work at his pace ever since! More recently, we’ve started jumping small jumps again!

I can’t even begin to describe how thankful I am and blessed I feel that he has recovered the way he has, with the ability to make a full recovery. I know it’s every horse owner’s nightmare if their baby gets hurt. The feeling of helplessness when you just want your animal to be happy and feel better, is so incredibly hard.

I am so grateful to be back on him again and to see him injury-free living his best life out in the pasture back with his buddies!

The greatest little guy

The theme of updates since our last chat still remain true. He is the greatest little guy, so goofy, willing to please, and I love him more after every single day! I could not feel luckier to own and love him!
