Between Boots’ Ears- No Better Place to Be

Boots (JC Bootleggin Posse) joined the Wasabi Ventures Stables family in May 2022, via a claiming race at Canterbury Park. In September 2022, they retired him from racing, at which point he found his home with Hannah. Hannah sends great updates on her adventures with Boots every year. This past year delivered challenges to Hannah, but through all of it her bond with Boots remains a constant.

From Hannah:

Boots and I have been doing really well. The show pictures I sent were from last summer, and we had such a fun season together. (You can find more photos in his Facebook album.)

This past fall (2025), I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of surgeries, health to-do’s and everything that comes along with them. Thankfully, my prognosis is very good, and I feel incredibly grateful because I know it could have been so much worse!

Through all of it, Boots has been my rock, my comfort, my joy, and we’ve developed a bond closer than I could’ve dreamed. We’ve taken some time off from jumping while I recovered, but I still got on and rode whenever I could. He has this incredible way of always meeting me exactly where I’m at. His patience, loving brain, and kind heart have meant the world to me. My favorite place in the world has simply been looking between his ears!

We will be back in action once I crush the radioactive treatment this week!

He’s truly the perfect boy, and I feel so lucky that he’s been by my side through this chapter. It always joys me to share updates with you because I could pour over how wonderful he is forever! I couldn’t have asked for a better partner, and I’m so grateful every day that our paths crossed.
