When Lil Met Willie

Willie the Whale has a new human best friend in Lil. However, before I introduce this new BFF, I will share the story of Willie’s first off-track home.

When Willie was retired in July 2022, he met Alison. She knew he was the horse for her. Since then he has lived happily at Alison and her husband’s farm, Graceful Acres. In the time since then there have been a couple happy occurrences, the biggest being the birth of Alison and her husband’s son. More recently, she knew Willie would benefit from someone with more time. Alison still loved Willie and did not want to just list him for sale. She wanted to find the just right person.

Move forward to this summer when Alison had a student, Lil, work with Willie for a lesson. They automatically clicked. Alison said, “I truly couldn’t believe the way the two of them connected when they met. Willie literally laid his head in her chest and nuzzled her. And she fell head over heels for him. He’s hit the absolutely jackpot!! It’s bittersweet for me – I selfishly wanted to keep him, but I’m just not giving him the time he deserves.”

On Saturday, July 20th, I attended a horse show at Graceful Acres. During that time, not only did I get to meet Alison and Lil in person, but I also got to see Willie warming up in the paddock. They definitely work well together. I am excited to follow Willie’s journey with Lil.
